The Fabric Care business had a desire and commercial need to streamline a number of aging washing and drying platforms into one flexible solution, addressing the needs of the entry to mid segment markets globally. The new laundry platform was designed to address this 'mass-market segment', and was to be utilized by the Electrolux groups portfolio of ‘smart’ brands (such as Zanussi, Frigidaire, Simpson, Westinghouse), targeting various regional markets around the world. The basis for the platform was built around simplifying manufacturing requirements of modularization, shared technologies and innovation, assembly cost reduction and durability. The needs of the business required visual alignment across both the 24” and 27” product footprints, enhancing overall product performance levels to exceed both consumer / market needs and benefits.
