‘WHO IS AT YOUR DOOR?’
The Connected home was a key target for Honeywell, and the aim of this project looked to making homes and neighbourhoods safer by allowing you to see and speak to your visitor from anywhere, anytime on your smart device. Smart video doorbells was seen as a new adjacency space to traditional doorbells and DIY security.
Project targeted user-friendly solutions that would leverage the Honeywell Lyric App ecosystem via smart devices enabling users to view and communicate with delivery drivers and visitors, allow gated and property entry - making sure that they never miss a delivery or visitor.
Proposition considered the external door interface with video and voice integration, door chimes, plus the relationship between these and 3rd party smart devices such as door locks, alexa, google home or Smart TV’s.

The smart video doorbell market was still in it’s infancy with just a few players. All solutions to date were ‘me too’, differentiated only by price point and style. Understanding the high value problems and identifying main needs for end users and internal business allowed the value opportunity to be framed through competitive UX benchmarking, ensuring the value propositions were unique and differentiated to meet business goals.
Project partnered with an OEM vendor, working closely with their ME and EE teams to develop the platform and design objectives.
